Call for Proposals

Want to earn $500 for writing a cool learning activity?

Great! Here’s the deal:

The Bob Graham Center for Public Service is building a digital course in civic engagement...and it is not your grandmother’s civics course.

There will be no lectures, no required readings, and no assignments. Instead, there will be Challenges!

The way it works is students cannot successfully complete the Challenges without reading and/or viewing certain media contained in the course’s Civic Library. Challenges are ranked Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 based on their complexity. This allows for student choice. For any given topic, students can choose to complete any combination of Challenges as long as the combined complexity adds up to three.

Get it? Good! Here’s where you* come in.

We need Challenges and we want you to write them! Did we mention that we’re giving away cash? If your proposal is chosen, you will have one month to submit a fully-developed Challenge. In return, you will receive $500 and be eligible for additional cash prizes.

If you’re concerned that you don’t have expertise in civics or civic engagement, don’t be! Neither do our students. Like you, they are interested in finance, medicine, agriculture, literature, astronomy, architecture, journalism, teaching, and all of the other academic disciplines here at UF. And, like you, we want them to think about their place in this world and the ways in which they can promote the common good. The objectives are simple, so bring your expertise and worldview to the task and propose a Challenge that you would have enjoyed completing when you were an undergraduate student.

*The Civic Challenge CHALLENGE is open to all University of Florida (UF) faculty and graduate students. UF faculty and graduate students from all disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal.
